Week 7 - 🇮🇹 Verona
Our penultimate stop in Italy was Verona. We started by taking a cable car up to Castel San Pietro, home to the remains of the first settlement (7th century BC) in the city. Quite possibly one of our favourite views of this entire trip! Next we cycled along Ponte Pietra and had a quick pit stop at the cathedral of Santa Maria Matricolare. We then reached the rumoured Juliets balcony, from the famous star crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet's story. Love notes and messages were filled all over the walls and the trees inside the courtyard, so it was only right that we left our own!
The final day consisted of getting lost on foot throughout the streets, where we stumbled across the arena which is essentially a mini colosseum. We then crossed the drawbridge of the medieval Castelvecchio, where we walked around the grounds and under various archways to finally discover Ponte Scaligero, a bridge built in 1354 with incredible views of the city and the outer regions of the castle. Arrivederci!
Lots of plans for today including a walk on the beach, my favourite lunch spot and a fabulous cooking course at @oakskitchenandgarden later 😍
I’ve already had such an amazing morning including confetti! So I can’t wait for the rest of the day 😁
