Admission day 12. This has been an up and down stay. Due to my reaction to an unknown drug last time I was on IVs, treating my lung infection this time has been tricky. I think we’ve finally found a combo of meds that works and that 🤞 doesn’t give me any reaction.
Along with treating my lungs (I’m at my lowest lung function ever), they’ve also been trying to figure out the ongoing reaction from last month. I’ve been seen by rheumatology and allergy, but to no avail. The positive lupus test(s) are confusing the teams. 🤷🏻♀️
The joint pains finally ceased a few days ago, and I hope they don’t come back. This could mean the reaction is finally over!!
Happy Saturday 🤩 breakfast this morning was simple but filled me right up. 👌🏻 Remember when I said how my sugars have been sitting high and I couldn’t figure out why? Well #ketofam based on some research I’ve done, when cutting out carbs, protein turns into glucose. So now I’m on the windy road of trial and error trying to figure out how to take insulin for protein. 💉 BUT at least now I have an idea of what’s going on. Have a great weekend everyone!
Good morning! Day 6 of carnivore. I’m stating a 30 day experiment on myself. I’m feeling very good! I’m happy to be home back to walking several times a day. Before breakfast, mid morning, mid afternoon and evening walks keep the body very insulin sensitive. #insulinsensitivity#t1dhack#t1d#keto#ketocarnivore
Great day had by all at the @jdrf_uk discovery day at the BCLM today... learnt some great new things going on in research for #T1D and heard from some great inspirational people. Great venue for the kids as well. Well done and thank you!

I just gave away this old diabetes stuff to another girl with T1D. She will send it to Gambia, where they don't have the resources to have these essentials... It sounds strange but it was really hard to give it away. In some way, diabetes (and its stuff) is, and will always be, mingled in your life... #T1D#diabetes

Day 16 #happydiabeticchallenge
I am simply scared to death of the ugly, miserable complications of this disease. So my motivation is quality of life. I have included long term complications of the disease but the short term complications are no walk in the park either and I can speak to those. DKA is MISERABLE. My husband and children have not ever experienced DKA with me but my parents have. It is something that If you have experienced it you will never forget the misery. My husband and kids and a few friends @aimee_b15 HAVE experienced severe hypoglycemia. Although it is scary for them, the diabetic doesn’t really know what’s going on it so it isn’t that scary for us🤔 However, as soon as you come out of it, it is about the most humiliating experience. I have included a picture of my kiddos because day to day my motivation is to never put them in a scary situation. They know what to do in the case of a diabetic emergency but thank goodness have never had live it.
RG @thisistypeone - Meet Jeffrey - #T1D. .
We asked Jeffrey what his biggest accomplishment with #t1d was: “I overcame a Christmas sickness they screwed up my BGs.” .
Diabetes never takes a break. Not on your birthday, not on your weekend. Not on Christmas. Shoutout to Jeffrey for turning what was likely a frustrating start to his Christmas morning into his biggest accomplishment of the year! 👍☺️💪🏻
