It’s this little gals birthday week! She has really been into @cosmickidsyoga Lately! I’ve just come to the conclusion that I will be emotional about her birthday (as well as my other two kiddos birthdays) every year 😂 She is our youngest and last baby of our bunch and unless there is some higher plan we will not be expanding our family. It has been an entirely new season in our household with all of our kids in school this year. I’ve been trying to pin point (besides the obvious that they are all in school) what was tugging on my heart and then last week a sweet friend of mine Ariel @mamaar completely hit the nail on the head for me. We each have three kiddos and she was able to put my feelings into words when she was talking about her youngest kiddo:
“I love all my babies but my identity as a mom is something he carries, I’ll always be mom but to be the nurturing, make your breakfast wipe your ass kind of mom ends with him.” And that right there....letting go of my youngest gals season as my baby/toddler/preschooler is what feels so hard. I remember being in the trenches of toddler hood with her brother only being 11 1/2 months older than her feeling like this season of life felt SO. FAR. AWAY and then BOOM here we are 😭😭😭
But I’ll tell you....this season of life is pretty incredible, I may be mourning never having a toddler again but seeing life through my children’s eyes has taught me and continues to teach me how to be a better human but also to get in touch with the childhood traits that can be easily left behind when society speaks to you and you often times forget who you were.
I love watching my kids just decide to go for something, never second guessing.....they just decide “hey I’m going to try this”. No fear, no question of failing and if they fail they get back up and just try it again. When is the last time you sat and observed your children’s amazing approach to life? Life through their eyes is really incredible.
